How it works
The finance function, rebuilt in three layers.
One pipeline, every month. The homepage gives you the summary; this page is the detail — what each layer actually does, what happens when they disagree, and what lands on your desk at the end of it.
Code
Your numbers, always right.
- • Your Xero connects once and we pull from it each cycle, or you send a monthly export
- • A reconciliation check refuses to publish if anything doesn't match your source data
- • Forecasts, KPIs, charts: computed by formula, never invented
- • Every formula unit-tested — the maths can't silently drift
AI
Professional judgement, every month.
- • Reads your numbers like a CFO would: interpretation and judgement on what they MEAN, not just what they say
- • Catches what a quick read misses. Every section is cross-checked against goals, the Decision Ledger, and industry context
- • Compounds month over month. The engine learns your business, and guidance sharpens as the relationship develops
- • Financial jargon translated into plain English; industry-specific levers called out by name (construction sees WIP, retention, BIF Act; other industries get their variant)
Human
Your advisor, in your corner.
- • Every page reviewed and signed before it reaches you
- • A call to walk through the decisions: monthly on Advisory, quarterly on Quarterly Reporting. On Reporting the calls are at the start, the kickoff and the goals workshop, and nothing is scheduled after that
- • Last month's actions tracked against this month's data, so the value shows
- • Real signature, professional indemnity insurance, and an engagement letter with clear scope boundaries
The Fahy Advisory way
Code computes. AI interprets. A human signs off.
You get the decisions — every month.
Where we sit
Keep your bookkeeper. Keep your accountant.
Three different jobs, and most growing businesses have two of them filled. We're the third: the layer on top that turns their work into next month's decisions.
| Bookkeeper | Accountant | Fahy Advisory | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Time horizon | Backward — what happened | Backward — last quarter, last year | Forward — the month ahead |
| Cadence | Weekly / monthly entry | Quarterly & year-end | Every month, same rhythm |
| Core question | Is it recorded correctly? | Are we compliant? | What should we do next? |
| You'd ask them | “Is this invoice in?” | “What’s my tax position?” | “Can we afford this hire?” |
Why not just use AI yourself?
AI can do the job. It just can't be trusted to do it the same way twice.
Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini are genuinely remarkable tools, and if you're already using them on your numbers, you're asking the right question. The gap isn't the model. It's the system around it that makes the answer repeatable.
AI on its own
- •Ask the same question twice, get two different answers
- •Confident and fluent, even when it's flatly wrong
- •Models change under you; last month's method is gone
- •No one signs it. No one is accountable when it's off
AI inside Fahy Advisory
- •Numbers computed by code and reconciled to ±1%, every time
- •Same method every cycle: consistent, comparable, trustworthy
- •It gets sharper, not stranger. Changes are reviewed before they ship
- •A named human reads, decides, and signs every page
That's where the advisor comes in. The AI does the lift. A real person makes it reliable, and puts their name to it.
After you sign
Your first 90 days.
Not a vague retainer. It's a defined ramp where value shows up in month one and compounds.
Setup costs you two or three hours in total. A 20-minute discovery call, connecting Xero (or sending one export), and a one-hour goals workshop. Everything after that is on us. Don't tidy the books first. Part of the early work is finding the numbers that don't tie and flagging them for your bookkeeper, so bring them as they are.
Month 0
Connect & set goals
- •Connect Xero, or a one-time export mapping off-Xero
- •A one-hour goals workshop, the spine of every report
- •For a goal you can't move directly, like revenue, we agree a plan at the workshop: the few levers, who owns each, and when we judge them. Every pack then reads how it's tracking
- •We find the numbers that don't tie and flag them, so they get fixed before they mislead you
Plumbing connected, targets set, data you can trust.
Month 1
Your baseline
- •Where you stand: cash, runway, margin, working capital
- •Cash risks named: AR over 60, retention, creditor exposure
- •First decisions, sized to your own numbers
The honest picture today, plus the first few things to act on.
Month 2
The loop works
- •Last month's decisions checked against the data
- •Forecast tightens on a month of real movement
- •Cleaner data, so trends start to mean something
Whether last month's moves worked, and what to do next.
Month 3
Strategic reset
- •Three months of trend against the goals you set
- •Next-quarter priorities from across the report
- •Goals & benchmarks recalibrated to reality
Decisions on clean data, with a quarter of proof it works.
The Month 3 reset is a conversation on the Advisory and Quarterly tiers, a dedicated strategic check-in. On Reporting you get the same reset written into the report. The calls on that tier are at the start, the kickoff and the goals workshop, and after that the pack and the client portal carry the month.
After the first 90 days
The numbers stop being the meeting.
Once the numbers are clean and the early decisions have landed, the monthly call changes shape. We spend less time reading the pack and more time on the business itself: pricing, the next hire, a contract worth taking or walking away from, where you want the business to be in two years and what has to be true by then. The pack keeps watch in the background and says so the moment something moves.
That is what the first 90 days are for. Not a report you read every month for the rest of your working life, but a business you know is under control, so you can be fully present in it and in your life.
